That, or something like it, could describe guerrilla happiness.

The idea is actually very simple. Instead of making speeches and reproaches, you can “leave out” small things that make someone else happy for a moment or distract them from everyday worries. And hope that these small things grow.

It’s possibly more important that it’s something personal, handmade, not necessarily something of monetary value, rather than it having to be useful.

And it’s NOT AT ALL about healing the world as a whole with anything. It’s only about a single smile.

And that smile can then bear fruit and perhaps spread throughout the world.

In the end, the world becomes better after all—starting from a single, small kindness.

Let your imagination run wild! Anything is possible!

A few examples. Feel free to try them yourself.

The Bubble Man

In our town, there’s someone who gets around a lot by bicycle.

I don’t know who it is. And I don’t know what motivates him either. Mischief? Playfulness? Confused thoughts? Quirky guy?

It doesn’t matter. Whenever he cycles past children, he leaves a trail of soap bubbles.

And that makes everyone happy in that moment.

The children laugh and the overthinking adults interrupt their grown-up thoughts for a cheerful “Ohhh how cool!”

Little Stones

They’re called Pottsteine, Icksteine, and so on.

They’re small stones that are beautifully decorated and “left out” outside. Some are elaborately painted and are actually art. Others are made by children with so, so much love.

Whoever finds one is delighted. And often they’re then left somewhere else—for the next finder. A lovely way to spread happiness.

There are even Facebook groups where people show that they’ve found a stone. Some stones have already traveled across Europe.

A beautiful connection.

Worry Worms

There are several people here who crochet small, brightly colored little worms.

Together with a small greeting, you can find them around our town. They hang, protected by a little bag, on gift ribbons along pathways or on benches.

You can entrust all your worries to worry worms! They eat up the worries…

They don’t tell anyone and spin happy dreams from them.

Little Greeting Cards

Another version is small messages. Individual sentences that you might like to hear yourself—written down for others, strangers, and left out.

I found this little card along with a reply in the company cafeteria.

And Now You…

Spread a little bit of happiness. Hug someone. Listen. It’s not hard and everyone has their own way.

Those who are cheerful and laugh are kind to others.
