Autumn Morning

08:30. Okay. It wasn’t exactly early, but still early enough on this autumn morning that the sun had just climbed above the treetops at the edge of the forest.

And it was something special: warm, soft light that bathed everything green – affectionately called “growth” and “spontaneous vegetation” in officialese.

It was the difference between a mere commute to work and a moment in nature.

I’ve driven to work so many times. And headed back hours later. Always on the gray asphalt as the only path that matters.
For the longest time, I didn’t look to the left or the right.

There’s so much to see. So much color!

I can only recommend it: “making” a difference.
After all, you’re outside and on the go.

You might not be taking photos; maybe for you, it’s a walk.
Or meditating. I’ve even seen Taijiquan.
Reading. Perhaps a coffee before the canteen…
During your lunch break, just don’t walk and don’t talk…

Or – I just did this on the same day: Lie on a freshly mown meadow, close your eyes. Listen to the warmth of the sun with your body. Follow the birds with your ears. Taste the soil and herbs with your nose.

I think something like this helps make days distinguishable. It feels good to fill the day with something other than work. I’ve grown fond of making the day special.
Even, or especially, on workdays.

These two beetles, for example, made a day “special”.
Even if for these two beetles it was a matter of being and non-being… This sight reminds me how richly nature blesses us in autumn, just before the cold, barren winter, with everything.

All the seeds and fruits…
Next time you go for a walk in autumn, look around you and see what you find.
Nuts, berries, fruits… So delicious! When was the last time you snacked on beechnuts, collected walnuts, tried sweet chestnuts, picked up hazelnuts?
Brew yourself a tea from the plants and leaves you find. (Just don’t forget to verify the type and effect of the plants!!!!!)
